About Dr. Hannah Edmond

Dr. Hannah Edmond is a Naturopathic Physician, certified by the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine. She prioritizes finding the root cause of disease, utilizing both naturopathic and conventional medicine to achieve wellness. She has an integrative approach and utilizes many tools to discover the best path forward in care. She enjoys using botanical medicine, nutrition, and physical medicine in her practice.

TRAINING

Dr. Edmond attended the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. She completed a residency in general medicine at the National University of Natural Medicine. She worked extensively with Dr. Steven Sandberg-Lewis as a mentor in Functional Gastroenterology. She is a Certified Evexipel Provider, offering premium hormone pellet therapy in Bend Oregon.

In 2013, Dr. Edmond earned her certificate as a yoga instructor. She believes movement is an important factor in optimal health and incorporates this into her multi-faceted treatment plans. While in undergraduate studies, she also spent time in India studying Ayurvedic Medicine. She incorporates this understanding into her current practice.

BACKGROUND

Dr. Edmond is originally from Denver, CO area and received her Baccalaureate of Science in Integrative Therapeutics at Metropolitan State University in Denver.

Growing up with an art teacher as a mother, Dr. Edmond is passionate about creative expression. She believes that medicine is an art, especially naturopathic medicine, and uses this art to provide more individualized healthcare.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Edmond loves to create art through many mediums. She also loves to spend time playing outside through hiking, camping, slack-lining and snowboarding.

About Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is an integrative form of medicine. It functions off the core value of finding and treating the root cause and utilizing the least invasive treatments to bring the body closer to balance. It utilizes many healing modalities including nutrition, botanical medicine, physical medicine, pharmaceutical medicine, etc. These treatment are often individualized to meet each person’s state of being, state of disease, and personal goals. The goal is to match the intensity of treatment with the severity of disease. In some cases, a change in diet may be what is needed. In other cases, pharmaceutical medicine or surgery may be needed.

TRAINING

Licensed naturopathic doctors go through 4-5 years of medical training. Their schooling involves education in human anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. They are trained in modalities such as botanical medicine, nutrition, nutraceuticals, pharmaceutical medicine, and minor surgery. To practice as a naturopathic doctor, one must pass multiple written and oral board exams. To maintain licensure, one must also complete 32 hours of continuing education each year.

NATUROPATHIC CONSULTATION

The first visit with a naturopathic doctor is very in depth. You can expect to spend 1-2 hours with your doctor, discussing your health history, lifestyle, and diet. The first visit also typically involves physical exams and ordering labs to help better understand the underlying cause of symptoms.
